Mark Shevlin

"Using the Danish National Registries for Social Science Research"

Mark Shevlin is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland and honorary Professor of Psychological Research Methods at the Southern University of Denmark. He started his academic career as a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University in 1995 and moved to the University of Ulster in 1998. He has been involved in a broad range of research projects with national and international collaborators. His research interests are in the areas of psychological trauma, psychosis, and posttraumatic stress disorder. He is also interested in the applications of latent variable models in mental health research. He was awarded funding from a U.K. Research Council to provide training in latent variable modelling for researchers and academics in Northern Ireland. He has published widely, with over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, and has also co-authored a popular student textbook on statistical analysis. He is statistical editor for the British Journal of Health Psychology and is on the editorial board of the Irish Journal of Psychology, Journal of Loss and Trauma and the Journal of Criminal Psychology.
